Welcome to The Pits' Dirt Track Racing page!

The 1.02d patch (795 KB) has been released! It fixes a number of small issues, particularly with regard to multiplayer racing.

Need new setups, but don't want to replace your "setup.sav" file and all your existing setups? Then you need the Masked Chicken's Setup Utility, available at the DTR Player's Guide. We have two good base setups available for download which use the Setup Utilities special format for easy importing into your current setup library.

Barry Clay and Blackhole Motorsports have released a new engine sound for the late model class. Pick it up in their DTR utilities section.

1.02d Patch by Ratbag/WizardWorks (795 KB). Although the release version is a very stable almost bug-free, this patch is recommended. The patch fixes:

DTR Demo by Ragbag/WizardWorks (9 MB). Highly recommended since it is very close to the release version.

Setup Utility by the Masked Chicken (35 KB). This is a neat utility, available at the DTR Player's Guide, that imports and exports individual setups.

Money Cheat by John Bodin (393 KB). Increases the various race payouts so progression through the ranks is faster.

A new late model engine sound is available in the utilities section of Blackhole Motorsports.

If you are looking for car sets/skins, please see the Links section for some fine sites.

Setups

These setups are for the late model cars, not the stock or pro stock cars.

Track-specific setups can be found at various web sites (probably the most are at DTR Player's Guide), but since many of the tracks are very similar, these two generic setups work well at all tracks and can be used as good base setups -- a starting point for the final refinement needed to shave the last few hundreths off your times.

Short Track Setup by The Pits (in "xxx.set" format -- Setup Utility required for importing). For tracks that are less than one-half mile.
Medium/Long Track Setup by The Pits (in "xxx.set" format -- Setup Utility required for importing). For tracks that are one-half mile or longer.

Alternatively, both these setups are available in a "setups.sav" file, which can be dropped into the "data/saved games" directory -- no special utility is required, but it will replace your existing setups, so back up your old "setups.sav" file if you want to keep them.

Setup Guide

Setup Quick Reference by The Pits. This is a one-page guide that summarizes the various setup options and the effect on car handling if the option is increased or decreased. Very helpful.

Setup Worksheet by The Pits. You can use this useful sheet (MS doc format) for recording setup changes, lap times, and track conditions as you test your car.
