Onlineracing.net has been in the works for several months, it was not intended to replace ten but to compete with it. We put the temporary front end up at www.onlineracing.net for the benefit of potential sponsors. The CRL site caused a lot of confusion. I started CRL so I could see first hand what the issues were and what drivers wanted in a game server.
When do we start? Our deadline was not October and realistically we can not have this project completed by then, although we do hope to start beta testing our server/client software in October. We were in negotiations with several large software solution providers, that could have delivered a lot sooner, but the software looked like a knock off from some game servers I don't care for at all. We have partnered with a great software company that is developing our package from the ground up, and it looks great, but looks are not everything and we will have an extensive beta testing period. Finding a software company that could handle what we needed was unbelievably difficult, but we found them. The software will have all of the features that drivers have become accustomed to; password protected racing, pop email, paging and chat. The scoring system is still up in the air, but we are working on it.
How fast? We have looked in to every possible solution, from the most well-known web host and network companies to the small ones. We have decided to go with MCI, as they own 70% of the wire. This is the perfect backbone.
How Much? We have not decided on a price yet, but the number we are working with is 14.95 per month. If this number changes, it will only go down. We would rather be a pay game server than be swallowed up by ads. We are working with some major potential sponsors, but for promotional events.
Everyone that joins Onlineracing.net will have the opportunity to signup for a league and run for points. We will hold special events throughout the year for some of the best prizes and awards ever seen on any professional gaming server. We are working hard to create a racing community that the drivers will have a voice in. We will launch with a very aggressive marketing campaign to attract new online racers as well as the experienced. Our goal is to create a fun environment for all online racers, and we will reach that goal by listening to the drivers and letting them help form the community.
Details about companies involved, and partners in this venture will be disclosed in our press release. If you have any questions not covered here, you can email me at admin@onlineracing.net. I will do my best to make sure all email is replied to. We look forward to working with all of you in the future.
